IP55 Ventilated Data Racks

IP Enclosures’ Ventilated Data Racks are engineered for the compact, secure housing of sensitive network and rack-mounted control equipment in demanding industrial settings. Built from galvanised steel sheet with a durable monoblock body, these enclosures deliver exceptional resistance to dust ingress, water penetration, and mechanical impact. A pre-installed gland plate supports efficient cable entry and management. A key feature of this range is the inclusion of precision factory-cut apertures for fans and vents. When combined with IP-V2000-UV or IP-V2200-UV ventilation systems, the Ventilated Data Racks achieve an IP55 protection rating.

Ventilation is essential in data racks to prevent heat build-up from active equipment such as switches, servers, and control modules. Excessive heat can lead to premature failure and costly downtime. The integrated ventilation design promotes continuous airflow, reducing internal temperatures and ensuring that sensitive components operate within optimal thermal limits. This helps maintain consistent network performance, prolongs equipment lifespan, and reduces the need for emergency maintenance.

These wall-mounted racks are available in compact sizes from 6RU to 15RU, catering to a variety of applications including industrial automation, process control, communication systems, and rack-mounted devices. Adjustable 19″ rails allow flexible equipment mounting, while surface-mounted doors with concealed, removable hinges and a 110° opening angle provide convenient access for installation and servicing.

Full-perimeter UL-listed polyurethane seals, applied by machine, offer a temperature range from -40°C to 80°C with short-term tolerance up to 160°C, maintaining protection in extreme operational conditions. The robust locking system safeguards against unauthorised access, making these racks ideal for use in manufacturing facilities, water treatment plants, utilities, and other critical infrastructure sites where reliable protection and effective heat management are essential.

Body & 19″ Rails:

The robust monoblock body is 1.5mm galvanised steel sheet. Two cutouts 125mm x 125mm are provided, located opposite, to house a fan and vent. Precision automated manufacturing equipment ensures accuracy and consistent high quality. Flat face sealing surfaces increase seal life. A galvanised steel gland plate is also incorporated into the bottom face. 19″ data rack rails are fitted. 600mm deep racks include front and rear rails.

Door:

The surface mounted door is 1.5mm galvanised steel sheet. It incorporates concealed removable hinges with captive pins. Doors are also designed for a 110° opening. Door with windows are available as an accessory.

Seal:

A high quality machine-applied full perimeter UL listed Polyurethane seal foamed in place (FIP) provides excellent sealing over a long life. Temperature resistance -40°C to 80°C (160°C short term loading).

Lock:

5mm double bit insert quarter turn lock with key. A full range of locking solutions are available upon request.

Gland Plate:

Gland plates are incorporated into the bottom face of the enclosure for cable management. They are provided with gaskets and fasteners. The size and quantity vary according to enclosure size.

Surface Treatment:

UL approved AkzoNobel epoxy polyester powder coated with a textured finish. 80-120 micron average thickness.
